Lee Smith
Group IT Manager
As Sundial Group has expanded, purchasing Woodside and Barnett Hill, it has been very fortunate to also obtain the services of a number of talented individuals. One of these is Lee Smith, who joined Sundial when the company acquired Woodside from Courtaulds PLC in the late 1990s.
Responsible initially for Information Technology and Management Accounts at Woodside, as both roles grew it became necessary for him to dedicate his time to one or the other. IT won the race, and Lee is responsible for all aspects of Sundial Group's information technology infrastructure, which ranges from televisions and telephones to laptops, desktops, printers and servers.
Like all good IT Managers, Lee has that magic knack of fixing a problem simply by being in the room; the phrases he hears most being; 'well, it wasn't working a minute ago' and 'Lee, while you're here...'.
Outside of work (to the extent that concept can exist for the person first on the call sheet when computer problems arise), Lee is a keen supporter of Aston Villa and also something of a petrolhead, attending Motor Shows and exhibitions when he can. He also likes nothing more than spending his spare time on the 'phone to a Group Marketing Manager who has managed to 'break the website' but again seems unable to specify exactly how!
He has been married to Sandra for three years.
